Factors to consider with diamond eternity rings when shopping around

Diamonds have been sought after by humans long before we even began wearing jewellery, and we have been wearing diamond jewellery for thousands of years now. Long before we lived in houses with roller blinds we understood the beauty and value of a diamond. Ring and jewellery designs in general have evolved a lot over the millennia. Just as we moved from simple bamboo blinds to vertical blinds and protective awnings, jewellery designs have evolved from simple to elaborate, and many different styles and fashions have taken the forefront over the years. Some designs prove timeless in their appeal however. The design of a simple band encircled with diamonds, or other stones such as rubies, sapphires or emeralds, has been a favourite for at least two thousand years. This design has come to symbolize unending and infinite love and is a wonderful selection for an engagement ring, wedding ring or for a meaningful gift such as an anniversary. Almost all rings of this style are channel set with square, round or rectangular stones.

Channel settings have grooves that the edges of the stone, otherwise known as the girdle, are set into. Just imagine grooves in the metal like you would see on a set of venetian blinds, except you set the edges of your diamond between them to be held in place. This is a very durable setting if made correctly, especially when set in platinum. Gold is also very durable and complimentary as well. Always make sure to have your ring cleaned by a jeweller regularly so that if any stones are coming loose the ring can be fixed before you lose one. Diamond eternity rings are incredibly stunning and meaningful, and can often be purchased at quite a reasonable price. As the diamonds are smaller, imperfections or less than optimum colourlessness is minimised and it is harder for the untrained naked eye to see the difference in quality. Generally a small diamond with clarity in the SI range and colour ranging from G to L will appear to have similar fire, brilliance and colourlessness to a larger higher quality stone.

Just as there would be no sense in installing office blinds in your home, there is no sense in putting exceptionally high quality diamonds in this type of ring. Thus you save money. You can also save money by getting a half set shank, where the diamonds only extend around half of the ring. This is obviously more economical as there are half as many stones, and additionally some people find it to be a more comfortable design as it is thinner. Don’t worry, a half band does not mean your love will only last for half an eternity. Just as blinds come in many shapes and colours, so do diamonds. I discussed shapes before, but there are also coloured diamonds such as pink and yellow if you are looking for something a little more unusual. No matter what specific details you pick, this ring is sure to impress without breaking the bank.
