See our stunning collection of Engagement Rings

The moment an engagement is announced, it is vitally important to choose the ring of your dreams and to be 100% sure it is the right one for you to reflect your personality. This is an enormously special time and there is such a wide selection of engagement rings it will help if you have some ideas of what you really wish to have. Gold is the most popular choice followed by white gold and platinum and the huge range of styles and precious stones is truly immense. The ring may of course come in a beautifully velvet-lined heart shaped box to protect it when it is not being worn. There are diamond solitaire rings which have one stone supported by a setting and cluster diamond rings which have several small diamonds. The shape of the stone and the design of the setting are quite a personal choice but once again there are many to choose from. Alternative stones are emeralds, sapphires, amethysts, rubies or tanzanite which can be made into fabulous engagement rings. Tanzanite, which is not very well known has a blue-lavender colour and comes from Tanzania. It is said this stone represents the month of December as do zircons and turquoise. These rings are quite affordable and great care is taken in the design and presentation of the finished article.

Wedding rings can be bought to match engagement rings or these can be bought in a matching set and maybe a discount can be given. If matching pairs of rings are chosen, they look more attractive together and sit well on the finger. Although modern rings are in high demand, vintage and antique rings are coming more and more into vogue at the present time. Vintage denotes rings made in the 1930s and 1940s or reproductions from these eras. Antique rings are from the Victorian era and again can be reproduced quite easily and can look different from the modern day rings. Eternity rings can be given at various times throughout the marriage and symbolises the eternal love between the couple. There are full or half eternity rings available, a full eternity ring has stones all the way round and this may be a little uncomfortable for the wearer. A half eternity ring is a ring which has stones only half way round, is cheaper than the full one and is more comfortable to wear. These can be bought to match both the engagement rings and the wedding rings and there is a stunning collection to choose from. Gold bands and diamond stones will always be the top choice for a newly engaged couple, but the combination and style of both is a decision which should be taken carefully as this ring will last a lifetime. Great care should be taken to protect the ring and regular cleaning will help to keep the ring in pristine condition. Choose wisely and take your time
